Rob was born and raised in Abington where he met many of his lifelong friends, and went on to study architecture at Temple University until 1992, loved ones wrote. He eventually opened his own vehicle and auto accessory business, the British Racing Group, which operated until 2019.
In 2004, Rob's life changed permanently when he was rear-ended by a commercial vehicle at over 50 mph, his obit says.
With the support of his loved ones and his famous optimism, family members write that Rob was able to partially recover from his paralysis. He never lost his sense of humor or zeal for life, his obit says, and threw annual "I'm-not-dead-yet" parties to the amusement of those who knew and loved him.
In the final years of his life, family members wrote, Rob's health deteriorated. He was eventually diagnosed with White Matter Disease, a leukodystrophy that can cause memory, balance, and neurological issues.
He checked into the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, Dec. 27, where he died nearly a week later.
Rob is survived by his five children, Mandy, Vicky, Sab, Harrison, and Beck, a son-in-law, Patrick, a daughter-in-law, Zara, and an adopted son, Mari, according to his obituary. He also leaves behind many loving friends and his loyal companion, Maus, loved ones added.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 15 in Abington.
